Playing the Lottery Online

Unlike poker, bingo, and other forms of gambling, the lottery is run by a state. The US has at least 45 state lotteries, and the Virgin Islands will begin to offer lottery games in 2021. Many Northeastern states are exploring the idea of legalizing online lotteries in the near future. New Hampshire, for example, has already legalized online lottery games and offers e-Instant games that you can play on your smartphone, tablet, or desktop. Massachusetts and Rhode Island are considering legalizing online lotteries, and New Jersey is considering the same move.

Although there are online lotto sites for most US states, their primary utility is to display winning numbers and contact information. However, a handful of online lotteries are expanding their service offerings to include Instant Games, or casino-style games that allow players to wager real money. While many of these games are available on the Internet, some of them are only available in certain countries. However, the majority of US lotteries still have physical locations, whereas many are now accessible only online.

Many lottery apps require a download and update, which takes up space on your device and may annoy you. If you can’t use your desktop computer, you won’t be able to play the lottery app, and you’ll have to wait until it updates. That’s not all, however: if you’d rather use your smartphone or tablet, you can install lottery apps to play the lottery from your computer. This is a convenient way to play the lottery.
